How to Reach Sikkim
Planning a trip to Sikkim? The easiest way to reach Gangtok is to travel first to Bagdogra, New Jalpaiguri or Siliguri and then continue by road. Although Gangtok does not have a railway station, taxis, shared cabs and buses are easily available from these nearby transport hubs.

By Air
Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal is the most convenient airport for travellers visiting Sikkim. It has regular flight connections with major Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. From Bagdogra, you can hire a private taxi or take a shared cab to Gangtok. The road journey usually takes around 4–5 hours, depending on traffic, weather and road conditions.

Pakyong Airport is another option and is located closer to Gangtok. However, flight services to Pakyong may be limited or subject to change. Check the latest flight schedule before making your booking.

By Train
New Jalpaiguri Railway Station, commonly known as NJP, is the nearest major railway station to Gangtok. It is well connected with several cities across India. After reaching NJP, you can choose a private taxi, shared cab or bus to Gangtok. The journey generally takes around 4–6 hours.

By Road
Gangtok is connected by road with Siliguri, NJP and Bagdogra. The drive is a beautiful part of the trip, with green hills, winding roads and scenic views of the Teesta River. Before travelling, check the weather and road conditions, especially during the monsoon and winter months.
